I digress. I first had a Pickle Martini in Astoria, Queens at a delightful little place called Sweet Afton. They use a traditional circle of pickle (locally made, I might add, good for them!!), but I'm into the fanciness of gherkins.
Ingredients:
2oz vodka or gin
Splash dry vermouth
2 tsp pickle brine
2 or 3 gherkins, to garnish
Remember to chill your glass! Combine all ingredients but the garnish, shake with ice in a shaker until chilled. Strain into a chilled glass, garnish with pickles! Bottoms up!
